Networking group have a ball for St Catherine’s
A Leyland business networking group literally ‘had a ball’ and raised a four figure sum for St Catherine’s Hospice, their favourite local charity.
BB4B (Breakfast Before Business) – a group of local businesses, trades and services – have been meeting monthly at Leyland St Andrews Parish Church since setting up in 2011.
The group decided their 2015 summer social would be a charity ball in aid of St Catherine’s Hospice. The glittering occasion was a great success, raising £1,600 for the cause.
Group member Vince Slater, who runs Slaters Catering and the Greenery Restaurant at Leyland Golf Club, hosted the occasion. Around 75 ‘glammed up’ guests attended for a delicious four course meal and entertainment from popular singer Steve Charles, along with a late disco which kept the party going.
BB4B members provided items for a charity auction and raffle and member Matt Langton, of Mattefinish Photography, raised extra funds by selling portraits on the night.
Lynne Whittaker, senior fundraiser at St Catherine’s and BB4B member, said: “It’s the first time BB4B have undertaken a charity initiative, we are delighted the group chose to support us.
“It costs £5m a year to run the hospice, of which £3.7m is raised through charitable donations. We couldn’t achieve this and continue to deliver our care without the support and dedication of groups like BB4B.”
