On your bike for St Catherine’s Hospice!
Hundreds of cyclists are gearing up to take on a mammoth bike ride challenge next weekend – and it’s not too late to join them!
The popular Wiggle North Series has teamed up with St Catherine’s Hospice to host the all new Counties Challenge cycle event, taking in spectacular scenery around Lancashire, Merseyside and Greater Manchester.
Riders have the choice of three circular routes, which will all start and finish at Withy Grove Park in Bamber Bridge on Sunday, May 14. There’s still time to sign up online for the 30, 65, or 100-mile ride, or people can register in person on the day.
Hospice fundraiser Norman Cutler said: “This is the second year we’ve worked with Wiggle to host a cycling challenge in support of St Catherine’s Hospice and we’re grateful to everyone who has already signed up. But we still have some places available and would love to hear from people interested in using some pedal power to raise some much-needed funds for the charity.
“The 100-mile course is slightly different compared to last year, so those who took part in 2016 can rise to the challenge of conquering this new route. We’ve introduced the 65 and 30-mile circuits so that even more people can gear up for the task.
“The rides are suitable for children as well as adults, so we’re looking forward to welcoming families to Withy Grove Park and cheering them on as they pedal for St Catherine’s bright and early this Sunday morning!”
Norman added: “Funds raised from the event will really help in our efforts to generate the £5.2m needed this year alone to continue providing the charity’s specialist care and support for people with life-shortening illnesses. As we strive to help more local people have quality of life, to the end of life, we need our community’s support more than ever.”
Online registration closes at mid-day this Thursday. To find out more and sign up, click here or call 01772 629171.
