Pals’ toy sale scoops more than £50 for StCatherine’s
A toy sale set up by two friends raised more than £50 for St Catherine’s Hospice.
Olivia Riding, aged 12, andMolly Longson, aged 13, organised the event at St Paul’s Church in Farington Moss last summer.
Rainbows and Bitemnies who meet at the church helped by donating toys following an appeal from Molly, who is a Girl Guide and Scout with the same pack.
The girls, both Year 8 pupils at Lostock Hall Academy, were so successful in collecting unwanted items they even hosted a second sale in the same location just two days later.
The biggest sale of the event was a Sylvanian Families house which went for £10.
The girls had heard about the good work of St Catherine’s through Olivia’s mum Nicola, who works for law firm DWF – one of the hospice’s corporate supporters.
Molly’s Scout Leader Ron Turton was also cared for by the St Catherine’s team before he died earlier this year.
They both said they’d had lots of fun organising the toy sales and were pleased to have a raised a total of £50.67 for the hospice.
Nicola added: “It was all their own idea and everyone is very proud of them.”
