Patients get makeover from top designer
Neil Grundy and Harry Lawler, two patients at St Catherine’s Hospice, and a young volunteer Sam Hunter were suited and booted by a top designer last week. It’s allthanks to shoppers at Debenhams in Fishergate, Preston who had voted for St Catherine’s Hospice to take part ina one-off event at the department store.
Famous Welsh designer Jeff Banks, who used to present the Clothes Show, made an appearance at the department store to transform the look of five lucky men.Theyweregiven the opportunity to have a makeover and to choose items from his new clothingrange to take them home with them.
Neil used to be in an in-patient but now receives regular visits from one of our community nurses and Harry attends Day Therapy every Thursday for specialised medical and nursing. St Catherine’s Hospice is here for when it matters most to patients like Neil and Harry.Jeff Banks said, “The team and I had great fun working with both Neil and Harry, they reminded me of the odd couple, you can just tell they take no prisoners. Overall all they’ve just got wonderful personalities and are all lovely guys.”
He added, “I just think it’s fantastic that Sam’s volunteering at the Hospice, especiallyat such a young age.”
Neil, Harry and Sam’s look was completed with a new hairstyle by make-up artist Maggie, who has worked closely with Banks for some time.
Everyone had a great time and the experience was one to remember!
