Patricia is our Christmas Raffle winner!
The lucky winner of the St Catherine’s Christmas Raffle initially thought it was a joke when she was told she’d bagged the £4,000 jackpot last week!
Patricia Smith is a member of the hospice’s weekly lottery, and has been entering the seasonal raffle for years – but she never expected to win.
“I didn’t really believe I’d won first prize when I got the call,” she said. “I asked if they were winding me up!
“I’ve never won anything like this before and I still can’t believe it.
“I have considered many things to spend the money on, but think it will go towards a new car and possibly a holiday with my husband.”
Patricia, from Bamber Bridge, has visited the hospice as friends have been cared for in the inpatient unit.
She added: “I feel it’s important to support the hospice, especially as it’s a local charity and I’ve seen first-hand the care and treatment provided to patients.”
Sheila Kennard, head of promotions at St Catherine’s, said: “Thank you to everyone who has supported the Christmas Raffle this year; money raised in this way plays a vital part in our year-round fundraising efforts, helping to continue the very important work of the hospice in caring for people with life-shortening illnesses.”
