Plumbs put best foot forward at Moonlight and Memories Walk
Employees from the Preston based firm Plumbs joined in the fun at St Catherine’s Moonlight and Memories Walk, raising a grand total of £1,600 for the hospice.
In total, 17 staff took part in the first eight mile stretch of the walk, with five going on to complete the full 16 miles, although some completed the trek in more of a hurry then others!
One of the five who walked the full 16 miles, thought his fellow comrades were ahead of him for the final eight mile stretch, so speeded around the course to try to catch them up, only to find that they were behind him all along, meaning he finished in a super quick time!
He and his colleagues joined more than 900 walkers for the extra special Moonlight and Memories Walk. As part of the 30th Anniversary celebrations, this year, for the first time ever, participants set off from St Catherine’s in Lostock Hall.
Initially, the group raised £800 in sponsorship, before the firm kindly matched their donation, accumulating a grand total of £1,600.
Sarah Page, Managing Director of Plumbs Preston, commended the effort of those who have made a difference throughout the existence of St Catherine’s.
“For us, as a business, it’s really important to help local charities especially St Catherine’s who do a fantastic job,” said Sarah, who also took part in the walk.
“We’ve had a lot of people who’ve been in the hospice so it’s important for us to support them. It’s our job as a local business to do that. It’s a real credit to St Catherine’s that they’re celebrating their 30th Anniversary and that longevity is down to the effort a lot of people have put into the hospice over the years.”
