Preston Lady Farmers host AGM at The Mill and make amazing donation to the hospice
Preston Lady Farmers enjoyed an evening at The Mill café and donated an amazing £1,180 to St Catherine’s Hospice at their Annual General Meeting (AGM) last month.
President Gill Baker chose to support our charity after experiencing the care provided by the hospice through her own family, and her fundraising events have been well supported by the group.
She said: “My first event was in November when I held a charity evening with a guest speaker, stalls and a raffle. Then in December I raffled a wooden Christmas tree that my friend had made at our Christmas meal.
“I also hosted an Afternoon Tea at The Mill which was open to other branches and was a big hit. It was extra special as my son’s mother-in-law sang at the event; we are grandmas together to my son and her daughter’s two beautiful girls. The food, service, and venue were superb and it gave us another opportunity to support St Catherine’s.”
Preston Lady Farmers meets at Samlesbury Memorial Hall each month, and the President puts together a programme for the term from August to May, holding social events which other branches are invited to join in.
The Preston branch hired The Mill to hold their AGM in May, where they enjoyed a three-course dinner and presented the money raised to St Catherine’s Hospice’s head of community engagement, Emma Jacovelli.
Gill added: “It was a great evening and as always the food, service and venue were superb. I honestly cannot thank the staff enough for everything they did.”
Emma said: “We’re delighted that Preston Lady Farmers not only chose St Catherine’s to benefit from their wonderful fundraising efforts, but also hosted their special events at our café, with proceeds from The Mill supporting the charity even further.
“I’m pleased they enjoyed the evening and hope we can work with the group again in the future. On behalf of everyone at the hospice, I’d like to say a huge ‘thank you’ for their fantastic donation and support.”
