Preston publishing house raises £1,000 for St Catherine’s
Colleagues at a Preston-based publishing house organised a charity celebration day for staff which helped raise £1,000 for St Catherine’s Hospice.
The Farmers Guardian, based in Fulwood, chose to support the hospice with a variety of events and collections over several months. The largest was a party for staff which also featured a Bake Off competition featuring a host of wonderful cake creations.
Other cake sales and collections helped bring the total raised to a fantastic £1,000, which will be used to provide specialist palliative and end of life care for local people.
Olivia Midgley, news editor at the Farmers Guardian, said: “St Catherine’s is a charity close to our hearts as some of our members of staff have had to rely on its services in the past.
“When colleagues were asked who should benefit from the money we raised we voted unanimously for St Catherine’s as we know how important the care they provide is to families and loved ones facing extremely difficult times.”
Hayley Jackson, fundraiser at St Catherine’s Hospice, thanked everyone for their fantastic efforts.
“We are extremely grateful to the staff at Farmers Guardian for choosing to support St Catherine’s,” she said.
“It is only thanks to the wonderful generosity of our supporters that we are able to raise the £5.2m needed to run the hospice each year. We want local people to experience quality of life, to the end of life, but we can only achieve this with the help of our amazing community.”
