Prisoners took to sports field to raise funds for St Catherine’s
by Jade Taylorson
A group of inmates from a Lancashire prison came together to complete a sponsored run around their sports field to raise funds for St Catherine’s Hospice.
Eight prisoners from F wing Pipe Unit at HMP Wymott completed a number of laps, running for an hour in total.
They collected sponsorship between themselves and residents of other wings of the prison, raising a fantastic £113.50 to support the care of the hospice.
Officer Paul Sergeant, who worked with them on the fundraiser, said: “The average wage of working prisoners is around £8 per week, so the money raised shows just how much St Catherine’s is appreciated in the area.”
