Punters enjoy 10 mile charity pub challenge
The Rivington (formerly Rivington Bowling Club) brought the community together by hosting a sponsored walk dubbed ‘The 10 mile, 10 pub challenge’.
Neil and Rachel Taylor, owners of the well-known pub in Rivington, hosted the unique event for various local charities including St Catherine’s in September. Punters started the challenge at The Rivington and journeyed through various pubs in Rivington/ Adlington, before returning back to The Rivington where they were greeted with a ‘dance up the club ramp’ at the finish line.
“There was a real community feel about it, all the pubs got involved and we all had a great time,” said the duo whose event raised £1,900 for St Catherine’s.
“It was the second year in a row we’ve done it and we plan to do it again next year. It couldn’t have gone any better, the weather even held out for us!”
Neil and Rachel are one of numerous pubs who’ve put on events for us this year as we celebrate our 30th anniversary. The pair were inspired to do their bit for St Catherine’s because they know how much it relies on the fantastic work of its supporters.
They continued: “It’s a great way for us to give something back, we have a great time and we’re supporting a local cause.”
