Pupils from Lostock Hall Academy support St Catherine’s Hospice
Two pupils from a school in Lostock Hall have raised cash for St Catherine’s Hospice.
Mika Lewis and Caitlin Howard, who both attend Lostock Hall Academy, sold Christmas badges to fellow pupils and teachers throughout the festive period.
The girls raised a brilliant total of £65.56, which will help the hospice at Lostock Hall continue to provide specialised palliative and end of life care to people in the local community with life-limiting illnesses.
Mika, aged 12, said: “St Catherine’s Hospice is not a sad place to be as they help people to get better, and I wanted to raise money for them so that they can continue helping patients.”
Caitlin, aged 11, added: “We feel really proud of ourselves that we’ve been able to raise this amount of money for such a good and local cause.”
Mika and Caitlin’s Year 7 tutor group voted the hospice at Lostock Hall as their chosen charity as part of the school’s active citizenship scheme.
Both girls said this won’t be their last attempt at fundraising for St Catherine’s Hospice as they hope to come up with new and innovative ideas this year.
