Pupils go the extra mile for St Catherine’s
A group of pupils from a high school in Fulwood completed a sponsored walk in memory of a father and Uncle.
Catherine Gregson along with fellow pupils from Our Lady’s Catholic High School walked from their school to St Catherine’s Hospice to show appreciation to the care given to Catherine and her family. A total of £262.39 was raised and Catherine’s Uncle was kind enough to match this figure, bringing the total up to £524.78. Catherine, 13 said: “My Dad and Uncle died of cancer in the hospice and my mum always donates to the hospice but I wanted to raise money for them myself.”Many of the participants walked with St Catherine’s collection buckets and everybody turned out in fancy dress to support a local charity.Catherine added: “I think it’s really good how they helped my Dad and Uncle at the hospice and I hope that they get all the support they need to continue running in the future.”The students also held a bake sale where they raised £70 and Catherine’s mum, Wendy was kind enough to match this figure bringing the total up to £140.The group of friends say this won’t be there last attempt at fundraising for the hospice, as they hope to take part in more activities in the future.
