St Catherine's Hospice > Redrow donates £22,500 to St Catherine’s

Redrow donates £22,500 to St Catherine’s

House-builder Redrow has donated £22,500 each to St Catherine’s Hospice and Derian House Children’s Hospice after a mammoth fundraising effort by the developer throughout the year.

Redrow’s sales director Claire Jarvis presented the money to the charities at The Hedgerows development in Clayton-le-Woods, alongside Redrow’s commercial director Phil Heaps who marked his retirement from the company after 40 years.

Stephen Greenhalgh, chief executive of St Catherine’s, said: “Once again we are absolutely astounded by the amazing fundraising efforts of staff and partners of Redrow.

“The Redrow team is a fabulously consistent supporter of St Catherine’s, working passionately each year to continually support the hospice through a variety of inspiring and exciting fundraising activities. Their gold star support is absolutely vital to our ongoing care and probably means more to local people than they realise themselves.

“As a local charity, we have to raise a staggering £5.2million every single year, and we simply couldn’t continue to offer our specialist care and support to local people living with life-shortening illnesses, like cancer and motor neurone disease, without the determined efforts of companies like Redrow.

“Support like this makes an enormous difference to local families because it’s the small details as well as the bigger issues which make St Catherine’s so special for patients and their loved ones.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to personally thank Steven Greenhalgh and all the fabulous Redrow team for working so hard to help us be there for Lancashire people and their families when it matters most.”

The money raised has come from a host of events held throughout the last 12 months, including Redrow’s Charity Ball, a Golf Day and Sportsman’s Dinner, the latter of which was organised by Phil Heaps.

Redrow’s own Steve Greenhalgh, managing director for the company’s Lancashire housing division, based at Buckshaw Village, said: “These two charities are both very close to our hearts and I never dreamed we would be able to out-do our efforts last year, but I am delighted to say that we have. Yet again the Redrow team has been incredible raising more than ever for St Catherine’s and Derian House.

“Over the years the money raised by our amazing workforce, our suppliers and our subcontractors who support these events is beyond belief. I don’t know how they manage to go bigger and better each year but I am delighted to say that they do.

“It is such a privilege to be involved with these charities and those who work for them to make memories and lives better for people with life-threatening illnesses and their families. To support the wonderful work that they do makes us very proud.”
