Santander staff enjoyed a family fun day in aid of St Catherine’s

A leading bank organised a fun day for staff and their families which raised a fantastic £1,500 for St Catherine’s Hospice.
Santander then matched the proceeds making a grand total of £3,000 for the hospice. Colleagues from the firm visited the hospice recently to present the cheque.
Chris Jopson, Santander mortgage advisor, organised the event with a team of colleagues. It was held inside the St Catherine’s 30th anniversary marquee within the hospice grounds in the summer of 2015.
Around 300 people joined in the fun last July, with a barbecue, stalls, tombola and a bouncy castle just some of the attractions on offer. Volunteers from St Catherine’s also gave a helping hand by preparing food for the barbecue.
It followed various other fundraising events and campaigns the bank has been involved with to show their support for the hospice over the years.
Chris said: “St Catherine’s approachable and helpful nature was the main reason we wanted to raise money for the charity, alongside our existing relationship with the hospice.”
Mark Taylor, Santander Regional Manager said: “I was surprised at how much people from other areas came to support us on the day. St Catherine’s has touched so many people and that is clear through the amount support from the community.”
Ann Woodfield, Santander branch manager in Colne, added: “Santander is really into community and working together with them to raise money. We hope that £3,000 will make a difference to St Catherine’s and the people they care for.”
