School pupils get busy baking to support St Catherine’s
Pupils from a school in Penwortham swapped text books for oven gloves to raise cash for St Catherine’s Hospice.
Georgia Clarke and a group of fellow students from Penwortham Girls High School organised the cake sale and raised a brilliant £130.
The group of friends gave up one of their Sunday afternoons to bake a selection of delicious cakes which they then sold on to students and staff.
Georgia, aged 15, said: “When we were discussing which charity we wanted to raise money for, we decided that we wanted it to be a local charity.
“St Catherine’s Hospice is a great cause that helps people with terminal illness. It issuch a friendly place.”
Hundreds of hungry students and staff members flocked to the cake stand during their school lunch break and took their pick from a selection of 20 different cakes.
Georgia added: “We did better than we expected – we had nearly sold out within half an hour!
“I definitely want to do more fundraising to help St Catherine’s Hospice in the future.”
