Scots Guards Association supports hospice through charity race night
The Preston Branch of the Scots Guards Association has once again made a wonderful donation to St Catherine’s Hospice from a successful race day held at Lostock Hall’s Royal British Legion Club.
The association held its third annual race day on 24th March and raised a fantastic £500 for the charity through ticket sales, a raffle, and a Play Your Cards Right game on the day.
Event organiser Michael Nutter said: “We wanted to show our support for our local hospice because a lot of people are connected to St Catherine’s and it touches a lot of people’s hearts in our community.
“The race day was lots of fun and we’re delighted that we’ve been able to make a donation of £500 to the charity for the second year running.
“We’re now looking forward to our Vets Fest on 9th June, which will be another great opportunity to fundraise for this very worthy cause.”
Hayley Jackson, community engagement officer at St Catherine’s Hospice, said: “We’re incredibly grateful to the Preston Branch of the Scots Guards Association for their on-going support of St Catherine’s. Their wonderful donation is so gratefully received and will help in our efforts of caring for local people with life-shortening illnesses, enabling people to experience quality of life to the end of life.
“We’d like to say ‘thank you’ to everyone involved in the race day and the upcoming Vets Fest event, and we look forward to working with them more in the future.”
Michael would like to say a special thanks to the following people for their support; Bill Barlow, Jimmy Marsh, Ronald Bell, Steven Hills, Alf Clemson, Frankie McQuade, Neil Faragher, David Moore, Ronnie Fitzpatrick, Stephen and Lesley Thorburn, and Callum McEachine.
