Singing Santas on song for St Catherine’s!
A Chorley garden centre is once again alive with the sound of festive music – as their ‘Santa Band’ performs a medley of Christmas hits, with donations collected for St Catherine’s Hospice.
Birkacre Garden Centre in Coppull brings out the Santa figures each year and sets up the ‘band’ in the Christmas section of their store.
The characters, who each play an instrument or sing, ‘perform’ a collection of Christmas favourites which are enjoyed by customers browsing the beautiful baubles and decorations.
Collection buckets are also put on display, with donations sought for St Catherine’s and Derian House Children’s Hospice.
The Christmas store will be officially opened with a celebration party on Wednesday November 11th between 5.30pm and 8pm, when staff will dress up in festive gear and hand out mince pies to visitors.
Pat Shreeve, garden centre assistant, said: “Our Santa Band is an attraction lots of people look forward to each year.
“It’s lovely when the children come along with their parents or grandparents too and end up dancing around in front of it!
“Unfortunately lots of people have a connection with cancer and other serious conditions so the work of St Catherine’s means a lot to them. We’re happy to support that work through our festive attraction, spreading some Christmas cheer at the same time as raising some funds.”
Owner and managing director Stephen Ainscough added: “We’re delighted to support St Catherine’s – a local charity which does such important work right here in the local community.”
