Sisters’ spectacular ball in memory of special mum
Three sisters organised a spectacular celebration ball in memory of their wonderful mum and raised an amazing £1,145 for St Catherine’s Hospice.
Rosie Monro, Alice Monro and Emily Critchley organised the ‘Let It Sparkle’ event in honour of their mum Barbara who died from a brain tumour in August 2014. They also raised the same impressive total for The Brain Tumour Charity through the event held at Charnock Farm in Leyland last November.
Rosie said they had wanted to do something in memory of their mum as they approached her birthday later that month.
The ‘magical’ evening welcomed more than 90 guests who were treated to a drinks reception, three-course meal, DJ and dancing, and a fantastic firework display finale. An auction and raffle prize draw added further to the funds raised through ticket sales.
The ball was such a success they are already planning a follow up event at the same venue to take place on October 29th this year.
Rosie said: “Our mum was such a positive person we wanted to do something really fun and special in celebration of her memory.
“Rather than be sad as we looked ahead to her birthday, we wanted to do something positive which helped other people.
“We’re delighted to have raised this fantastic amount of money in tribute to her and the brave battle that she fought. We know St Catherine’s Hospice is a wonderful place which does such important work in our community – we wanted to do something to show our support for that, whilst giving people a great night out.
“We’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who joined us on the night and are already looking forward to the next one later this year!”
