Sisters’ sweet success for St Catherine’s!
Two sisters who run a successful catering business used their talents to support St Catherine’s with a community afternoon tea event which raised a fantastic £551!
Liz Thompson and Kath Spiby, who run Sisters Catering in Eccleston, organised the event at Hesketh Village Hall in aid of the hospice and Macmillan Cancer Support.
The sisters laid on a delicious afternoon tea featuring sandwiches, quiche and a mouth-watering selection of cakes which guests paid just £3 to enjoy.
More than 100 people came together for the afternoon, which also included a popular raffle which raised extra funds. In total a brilliant £1,102 was raised which was split between the two charities.
The pair were inspired to do something to show their support after Kath received advice and support from St Catherine’s when she was caring for her mother-in-law two years ago. Liz also wanted to do something for charity in honour of her birthday which she celebrated the same weekend as the event.
Kath said: “The St Catherine’s nurses were an invaluable source of advice when our family needed them. We did some fundraising in her memory after she died, and we wanted to continue to show our support through another event.”
Liz added: “We’re delighted with how the day went – it was quite overwhelming really!
“We’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who supported it and gave so generously, helping us to raise this wonderful total.”
