St Catherine's Hospice > Something for everyone as St Catherine’s launches summer season of events

Something for everyone as St Catherine’s launches summer season of events

Marquee for FBSt Catherine’s Hospice has announced an action-packed calendar of events this season, featuring everything from a bling-tastic Bollywood Night to the 10th anniversary of its popular Moonlight and Memories Walk.

The charity, based in Lostock Hall, will once again welcome the public into its beautiful grounds – known as St Catherine’s Park – for a host of attractions raising vital funds to care for people with life-shortening illnesses both at the hospice and in the Central Lancashire community.

Lorraine Charlesworth, director of community and income at the hospice, said: “We always look forward to launching our summer events season, and this year sees the return of some of our supporters’ favourite attractions, as well as some exciting new fundraising ideas.

“Not only are our hospice events great fun – and sometimes very poignant – they’re an incredibly important part of our fundraising programme, as all the money generated helps St Catherine’s continue to provide specialist palliative and end-of-life care to local people, whilst also supporting their loved ones through a range of dedicated services.

“It means the world to us that the public is so supportive of our work, and if they can enjoy themselves in the process, then all the better!”

A spectacular marquee will be set up in the gardens to host a number of the events, following the popularity of the pop-up venue during the hospice’s 30th anniversary celebrations in 2015.

DSC_0011First on the agenda is a Bollywood Night on June 3, organised in partnership with Preston-based Neesh Events and featuring traditional Indian music, dancing, henna tattoo art and a mouth-watering buffet.

There’s a Yoga Retreat during the day on June 4, before the poignant Moonlight and Memories Walk that evening. Walkers will take on a family-friendly four-mile trek or the full 10-mile route (one mile for every year the fundraiser has run) – both setting off and finishing at the hospice in Lostock Hall.

The charity has teamed up with Leyland’s Guest Boutique to host a Summer Fashion Fayre in the marquee on June 8, followed by the hospice’s popular annual Quiz Night on June 9.

A glittering Summer Ball on June 11 includes a drinks reception on the lawn, a delicious meal courtesy of The Mill Outside, fantastic entertainment from The Soul Convicts and a raffle and auction featuring a host of top prizes.

Another chance to dress to impress is at the Ascot Ladies’ Day on June 16 – to which gents are also welcome – featuring lunch, entertainment, the racing live on screen and the chance to have a flutter on the horses courtesy of BetSid.

Yellow Day on June 19 invites families to enjoy a host of attractions including stalls, traditional garden games and entertainment.

Joe Bonamassa by Marty Moffatt_24And the summer events season finishes on a high with the marvellous Symphony at the Tower shows featuring Will Young on Friday July 1, blues guitarist Joe Bonamassa on July 2, and the Symphony Spectacular classical concert and fireworks on July 3.
