Sweet success for Abi at charity cake sale
Teenager Abi Waring hosted a cake sale to remember her much-loved nan and raised £136 for St Catherine’s!
The year 9 pupil at Bishop Rawstorne School in Croston was inspired by the experience of her nan Cynthia, who was cared for by St Catherine’s before she sadly died in January.
The cake sale featured a host of sweet treats which she sold to class-mates and staff at break-time.
The proceeds were generously matched by the school, and split between St Catherine’s and The Breast Cancer Charity.
Fundraiser Norman Cutler said: “We’re very grateful to Abi for all the effort she put into organising the cake sale. We’re sure her nan would be extremely proud.
“Thanks too to everyone who bought a cake and supported Abi, including Bishop Rawstorne School who provided the match funding. The money raised will help us to care for other people like Cynthia when they really need us most.”
