St Catherine's Hospice > Symphony at the Tower set to expand to three nights!

Symphony at the Tower set to expand to three nights!

St Catherine’s Hospice is excited to announce that our flagship event Symphony at the Tower returns again in 2016 and for the first time will cover THREE nights!

Next year’s event takes place on Friday July 1st, Saturday July 2nd and Sunday July 3rd, once again in the stunning surroundings of Hoghton Tower.

Symphony crowds and stage

The line-up of musical acts is currently being finalised and will be announced soon. The traditional Symphony event will move to the Sunday, to make way for a brand new night on the Saturday. The aim is to attract even more people along to enjoy the event by broadening its appeal – and in turn raise more money for St Catherine’s.

The news comes following an incredible Symphony this year when nearly 10,000 people rocked out to the legendary Status Quo on Friday and Blake, Lucy Kay and the Heart of England Philharmonic Orchestra on the Saturday.

Lorraine Charlesworth, Director of Income Generation at St Catherine’s Hospice, said: “We’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who attended Symphony at the Tower 2015 – it was a fabulous finale to our dedicated month of 30th anniversary celebration events which took place that summer.

“It was fantastic to see so many supporters enjoying a weekend of live music in the beautiful Lancashire outdoors, all while raising vital funds to support the specialised care St Catherine’s provides to local people.

“We are delighted to announce the addition of a third night in 2016 when Symphony at the Tower, one of our longest-running and most special events, celebrates its milestone 21st birthday. We are looking forward to seeing Symphony fans old and new at what promises to be another extra special weekend, all in the name of a wonderful cause.”

Symphony Status Quo

Symphony - Lucy KayCuffe and Taylor director Peter Taylor said: “We are thrilled Symphony at the Tower is going to be a three-day event in 2016. It makes complete sense
to add an extra date as the past three years working with St Catherine’s Hospice have gone really well.

“Symphony has grown its audience each year while raising magnificent amounts of money for the hospice. We want to ensure its continued success and to reach as wide an audience as possible and therefore a three-day event gives us the opportunity to do that.

“By adding an extra date we can programme an additional concert giving as many people as possible the opportunity to enjoy top quality live music in a fantastic setting while also raising funds for this vital service.”

Details of next year’s line-up will be announced soon! Keep checking our news feed here and our Facebook and Twitter pages for all the latest updates.
