Team Lantei’s incredible effort for St Catherine’s Hospice
Every member of staff at a Preston-based electrical compliance firm played their part in raising an incredible £10,197 for St Catherine’s Hospice after choosing the organisation as their charity of the year.
Leading by example in their charitable efforts were Lantei Compliance Services co-founder Leona Smith and managing director Andrew Livesey, who completed a six-day trek to the summit of Mount Killamanjaro in Africa.
The daring duo, who scaled dizzy heights of nearly 6,000 feet, raised an incredible £4,000. Their efforts also inspired their team in their own fundraising challenges which resulted in the impressive total being raised for the Lostock Hall hospice.
Other fundraising feats carried out by the team included cake sales, a car boot and quiz nights, which all generated funds to support the specialised care of the hospice.
To celebrate the company’s achievements over the past year, the company organised their first Employee Recognition Awards which included a prize for the Fundraiser of the Year. The accolade went to Michelle Strafford, who not only hosted a smartphone quiz but also set herself the challenge of walking 10,000 steps in June and in total raised £949.
Leona said: “We’re incredibly proud of everyone for the enthusiasm and effort they put into supporting St Catherine’s over the past 12 months. We’re delighted to have raised this fantastic total for a wonderful local charity which does such important work in the Central Lancashire community.”
Andrew added: “Special congratulations go to Michelle for being crowned Fundraiser of the Year – she really went the extra mile organising not just one event, but two, in order to raise more funds. St Catherine’s is an amazing place and we’re very happy that they money we have raised will help make a real difference to local people at a very difficult time in their lives.”
Emma Jacovelli, Head of Community Engagement at St Catherine’s Hospice, thanked Lantei for choosing the hospice as their charity of the year.
“Having the support of local businesses like Lantei is key to the ongoing success and sustainability of the hospice,” she said.
“We’re thrilled to hear the team enjoyed their experience of fundraising for us so much and would like to thank each and every member of staff for getting behind the challenge with so much creativity and enthusiasm.
“It is a wonderful amount of money to have raised and will be a great help to our work supporting local people with life-shortening conditions like cancer, motor neurone disease and heart failure to have a good quality of life, to the end of life.”
