The Mill hands over gingerbread creation to Derian House
The Mill has handed over their spectacular handcrafted gingerbread house to Derian House Children’s Hospice for youngsters and their families to enjoy this Christmas.
The build of the immense biscuit creation began at the end of November and continued throughout December on-site in The Mill café.
Patisserie chef Tony Culliney has worked painstakingly on the house in the run up to the festivities, attracting attention from customers – many of whom were keen to take photos of the house as it took shape.
Once it was complete, The Mill decided it would be a fantastic Christmas gift for fellow local charity Derian House and delivered it to their Chorley site on Tuesday December 22.
Nicola Hanmer, commercial catering manager at St Catherine’s Hospice and The Mill, said: “Tony has done a fantastic job on our gingerbread house which is beautifully decorated and certainly looks good enough to eat!
“We thought the children and young people at Derian House would enjoy tucking in during the run up to Christmas and it was great to see their reactions when we handed it over. We send our very best wishes to everyone there for Christmas and the New Year.”
