St Catherine's Hospice > The Mill’s pop up restaurant goes down a treat at the Royal Lancashire Agricultural Show

The Mill’s pop up restaurant goes down a treat at the Royal Lancashire Agricultural Show

Thousands of hungry visitors to the Royal Lancashire Agricultural Show got their first taste of The Mill when we set up a pop-up restaurant inside the show ground.

The Mill Outside, the outside catering arm of The Mill, St Catherine’s Park, was proud to be named one of the official caterers for the event at Salesbury Hall, Ribchester.

The team, served up breakfast, delicious salads, and much more to visitors over the course of the three day event and provided afternoon tea for the show’s official Ladies’ day on the Friday.

St Catherine’s Hospice also set up a stall close by, which raised funds for the charity through selling books, merchandise and Superdraw raffle tickets.

Geoff Goodspeed, director of the Royal Lancashire Agricultural Show, was delighted St Catherine’s had a major presence at the event, which attracted over three times as many people as they were expecting this year.

“One of the objectives was to move away from the traditional burger bar and provide something a bit more up market,” said Geoff on choosing The Mill Outside as the show’s official caterer.

“My wife went to The Mill one day and really enjoyed her visit, so much so, it brought on this idea to have The Mill at the Royal Lancashire Agricultural Show.

“It’s wonderful that as well as having a more than capable catering firm in The Mill Outside as one of our official caterers, we can also provide support to a very important charity in St Catherine’s Hospice, and we were delighted with their co-operation in the run-up to the event.”

The showcase, which ran from Friday to Sunday, also counts as one of the 30 special occasions The Mill Outside is hoping to cater for in 2015 – their target in the 30th Anniversary Give A Gift campaign.

Nicola Hanmer, commercial catering manager at The Mill and St Catherine’s Hospice was delighted that they were able to be part of such a local spectacle in an iconic year for the hospice.

“We were thrilled initially to be chosen as one of the official caterers of the Royal Lancashire Show,” she said. “It was the first time The Mill Outside have catered for an event of this scale since we opened the café last year, and we were thrilled with some of the comments we received from the visiting public.

“The feedback we received from customers at the event was excellent, with most pointing out it was nice to be able to sit down, relax and enjoy a meal in a friendly, welcoming environment.”

Just because the Royal Lancashire Show is over, doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy The Mill and what it has to offer. We are now open until 7:00pm, seven days a week at St Catherine’s Park.  If you are interested in hiring The Mill Outside for your special event, contact us on 01772 695277 or email themill@stcatherinespark.co.uk.
