St Catherine's Hospice > Tina to remember much-loved nanna at Moonlight and Memories Walk

Tina to remember much-loved nanna at Moonlight and Memories Walk

Tina and Ella 2A St Catherine’s Hospice supporter will remember her much-loved nanna 10 years on from her death at the Moonlight and Memories Walk which also marks its 10th anniversary in 2016.

Tina Kimberley-Haworth will be striding out on June 4th with the name of her nanna Ella Davies proudly marked on her T-shirt.

She will be taking part in the walk for the seventh time in its 10 year history, raising funds for the Lostock Hall hospice which cared for Ella in the final weeks of her battle with stomach cancer.

Tina said the evening was always a special occasion, as people join together to remember their loved ones whilst raising vital funds for the charity.

The mum-of-two from Fulwood said: “My nanna was an absolutely amazing lady and I always feel so proud to take part in this event in her honour.

“The care she received from St Catherine’s Hospice was fantastic, and the dedicated team who looked after her was there for me and the rest of the family too. We’re a very close knit family, and nanna was the head of it, so knowing she was getting the treatment she needed was so important to us all at that time.

“I’ve taken part in the Moonlight and Memories Walk on several occasions over the past 10 years, always walking in memory of my nanna. I sign up on my own – it’s my special thing that I do for her and it means a lot to me. The atmosphere on the night is wonderful – it’s obviously emotional reading the tributes on people’s T-shirts and hearing about why they are there, but it’s also so positive and uplifting, knowing that you’re part of something which is raising money that is so needed by the hospice.

“I’d encourage anyone to join up and walk in memory of someone special to them – they don’t have to have been cared by St Catherine’s, it’s about remembering the amazing person they were and making a contribution to an important local charity.”

This year’s walk is once again open to everyone and takes place on Saturday June 4. It features a 10-mile route – a mile for every year – or a four-mile family-friendly route, both starting and finishing at the hospice in Lostock Hall.

Norman Cutler, senior fundraiser at St Catherine’s Hospice and Moonlight and Memories Walk organiser, said: “It’s wonderful to hear that Tina will once again be joining us for this year’s walk and we’re extremely grateful to her for her fantastic support over the years in memory of her nanna.

“There are many stories like Tina’s of people remembering important people in their lives through the event, and there’s a real camaraderie in knowing that everyone is there for their own special reasons.

“We can’t deliver our care for people in Central Lancashire without people like Tina who help us raise the funds we need. We hope people will be inspired to join in and show their support at this real night to remember.”

Registration is £15 for adults and £10 for under 18s. Click here to sign up, or call 01772 629171.
