Traditional music and talented dancers ensure plenty of good craic at Irish night
Supporters danced the night away at a traditional Irish celebration organised to raise funds for St Catherine’s Hospice.
The event featured authentic Irish band ‘Thistle’ and welcomed the talented Shamrock Irish Dancers.
There was also a DJ and various raffles which raised extra funds.
Maureen Gaskell, organiser of the event at St Bernard’s function room in Preston, said: “It was a really successful night.
“We did really well, we had lots of people there, and there were lots of Irish dancing and plenty of Guinness.”
It was the third event of its kind organised by Maureen to raise money for St Catherine’s Hospice. The first night raised £2,200 and the second night brought in £1,900.
Maureen’s mother-in-law died at St Catherine’s, and she said the care she received was fabulous.
She added: “St Catherine’s was a great help to us, so we like to return the favour. I give my unwanted furniture to St Catherine’s, and support them while we can.
“The Irish night was a lot of hard work, but I love doing it, and I can’t wait to organise the next one!”
