Viridor raises more than £1000 in safety initiative
Employees of Viridor have achieved their target of 1000 days without an accident, and raised vital funds for St Catherine’s Hospice in the process.
As part of a nationwide safety strategy within the company, for each day a depot went without a lost time accident, the company would donate £1 to a charity of their choice.
Employees at the Leyland and Thornton branch overwhelmingly chose St Catherine’s as their designated charity. Having initially set a target of 1000 days without an accident, they are now up to 1260 days and are still going!
Chris Hanson-Jones, Traffic Manager for the local depot said: “The staff voted unanimously for St Catherine’s because the majority of them know someone who has benefited from the hospice in some way.
“This is an excellent way of us using our safety project for the benefit of the local community that we serve. Hopefully we will be doing the same this time next year to support this wonderful cause”
