Walker Fire start a series of fundraising for St Catherine’s Hospice
Walker Fire, based in Preston have recently started a year of fundraising for St Catherine’s Hospice.
The hospice was chosen as charity of the year, after staff voted for who they wanted to support.
Walker Fire credit controller, Sarah Lea said: “St Catherine’s Hospice is a charity close to the hearts of many of us here at Walker Fire.
“The care and support offered to the local community by everyone at the hospice is incredible.”
They kicked off their fundraising with a dress down day in April, followed shortly by a coffee morning and dress down day in June – where a variety of homemade goods were available, along with some handmade jewellery.
On July 1st seven employees also took part in the hospice’s Moonlight and Memories Walk, completing the 10-mile route in three hours and 20 minutes.
Sarah said: “Our target for the year is to raise £1,000 – we’re over half way there; we have already raised £863.23. Our next fundraising events will include taking part in the hospice’s Bark in the Park in September and Christmas Jumper Day.”
Hayley Jackson, fundraiser at St Catherine’s Hospice, said: “We’re honoured that staff at Walker Fire have chosen St Catherine’s as their charity of the year. It’s great that they’re coming up with lots of different ways to fundraise at the office, as well getting involved in the hospice’s own events.
“We’re really looking forward to working with them throughout the next 12 months!”
