Walton’s Coach Hire celebrates 10 years of supporting St Catherine’s Hospice

St Catherine’s Hospice is thanking a transport firm which has generously supported the charity’s fundraising events for a whole decade.

Walton’s Coach Hire, based in Freckleton, provides a free park and ride shuttle bus service to visitors of St Catherine’s biggest fundraisers, as parking on the hospice site is limited during the busy events and prioritises patient visitors.

For the past 10 years, Walton’s Coach Hire has transported supporters to the Moonlight and Memories Walk and Yellow Day in the summer months, and the St Catherine’s Christmas Festival during the festive season.

Transport Manager Jill Atherton said: “St Catherine’s is a charity we’re really proud to support and we’re happy to lend a hand year after year. Our drivers really enjoy it; there’s always a really lovely atmosphere on event days, and it’s great that we’re able to use our services to support such a worthy, local cause.

“St Catherine’s helps so many local people, and you never know when you or your family might need the charity’s support, so we’re really happy to do our bit to help people raise funds and attend these fantastic events.”

Emily Bate, Community Engagement Assistant at St Catherine’s Hospice in Lostock Hall, said: “Our annual fundraising events are becoming more popular each year, with thousands of people turning out to show their support for their much-loved local charity.

“We love welcoming families into St Catherine’s Park to enjoy a great day out whilst helping to raise vital funds for our cause, enabling us to continue caring for local people affected by life-shortening illnesses at the hospice and in patient’s own homes across Central Lancashire.

“We’re so grateful to Walton’s Coach Hire for their amazing support over the past 10 years, and are delighted to hear that they’ll be providing the shuttle bus free of charge once again at this year’s Christmas Festival weekend, which takes place on November 31 and December 1 in our grounds of St Catherine’s Park.

“The drivers so generously offer their time to provide the service and help with the smooth and successful running of our events, which is really commendable and something we’re extremely appreciative of.

“In the tenth year of their fantastic support, we’d like to take the opportunity to say a very big ‘thank you’ to Walton’s Coach Hire.”
