St Catherine's Hospice > Win a new set of wheels whilst helping to raise funds for St Catherine’s Hospice!

Win a new set of wheels whilst helping to raise funds for St Catherine’s Hospice!

DSC_2298A brand new MINI in eye-catching volcanic orange is the fantastic prize up for grabs in the annual St Catherine’s Hospice car raffle – all for the price of a £2 ticket!

Tickets are now on sale from hospice shops across the area – including the gift shops at the hospice and The Mill cafe – as well as online via the charity’s website.

All profits are ploughed back into the work of the Lostock Hall hospice, which provides specialised palliative and end of life care to local people facing conditions like cancer, motor neurone disease and Parkinson’s disease.

Last year’s raffle raised an amazing £49,321 – enough to cover the cost of the charity’s day therapy unit and community Clinical Nurse Specialist team, who deliver expert care in people’s own homes, for more than two weeks.

The winning ticket will be drawn on the final night of this year’s Symphony at the Tower weekend which takes place on Friday July 1, Saturday July 2 and Sunday July 3. Pop favourite Will Young will open the weekend, followed by US blues guitarist Joe Bonamassa on Saturday – performing his ‘Salute to the British Blues Explosion’ tour featuring the music of Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page. The event closes with the traditional orchestral concert and firework spectacular on Sunday.

Sheila Kennard, Head of Lottery and Promotions at St Catherine’s Hospice, urged people to try their luck and show their support.

She said: “We’re proud to be working with Bowker MINI again this year to offer this fantastic prize and would like to thank them for their ongoing support of the car raffle.

“Buying a ticket is a great way to show your support for St Catherine’s Hospice and the vital work they do caring for local people. And the best bit is that you could walk away the winner with a brand new set of wheels!DSC_2286

“We’d also love to see people taking away extra books of tickets to sell onto their family and friends – every ticket sale really does make a difference and we’re incredibly grateful to everyone who takes part for their wonderful support.”

The MINI will also be doing the rounds at various community events this summer when people will be able to see the car for themselves and buy tickets.

Graham McMurry from Bowker MINI said the firm was delighted to support St Catherine’s Hospice again this year.

He said: “This is the third year we’ve been able to support the St Catherine’s Hospice Car Raffle. It’s an incredible fundraiser for the charity and that is testament to the hard work of staff and volunteers who sell so many tickets.

“It’s also a wonderful way to keep the charity in the hearts and minds of Lancashire road users and visitors to the events where the MINI will be on display. Good luck to everyone who buys a ticket!”

Tickets are available online here, from hospice charity shops and from the gift shops at hospice reception and The Mill. Extra books to sell on are available by contacting the promotions office on 01772 629171.
