St Catherine's Hospice > Workmates team up for Tough Mudder obstacle course

Workmates team up for Tough Mudder obstacle course

A ‘tough’ group of colleagues worked together as a team to tackle the notorious Tough Mudder challenge for St Catherine’s.

Four workmates from drinking appliance firm, Zip Water UK, ploughed through the obstacles at the event in Scotland, in memory of their late colleague John Phillips – joined by friend and supporter Tracy Short from City Plumbing Supplies.

Dan Callaghan, Regional Manager for the North East and North West at Zip Water UK, explained: “The Zip North sales team took part in Tough Mudder in Scotland, which involved running more than 10 miles and tackling 25 obstacles.

back“We decided to raise funds for St Catherine’s Hospice following the sudden and sad loss of John, who passed away in January; St Catherine’s cared for John and has family during his illness.

“We did Tough Mudder last year for Crohn’s & Colitis Charity; we trained extremely hard and probably put a lot of pressure on ourselves.

“This year we wanted to enjoy it and make more of the experience. We gave it our all but at the same time stuck together as a team from the start and laughed pretty much all of the way through, even during the real tough obstacles.

“We completed the course last year in over four and a half hours, and this year without putting too much pressure on ourselves, we managed to do it in just over three and a half.”

IMG_0327Dan was joined by Michael Quinn (Specification Manager North East), Robbie Ferguson (Sales Manager North), Jody Lowe (Regional Manager Central), and Tracy Short (Showroom Manager at City Plumbing Supplies)

Fundraiser at St Catherine’s Hospice, Emma Jacovelli, said: “It’s great to hear that the team enjoyed their Tough Mudder challenge – they worked really hard and raised nearly £500 for the charity, which is fantastic.

“We’d like to thank them for their amazing efforts – without such backing from our communities and corporate supporters, St Catherine’s simply wouldn’t be able to continue providing such valuable end-of-life care to people like John.

“So thank you to the Zip Water UK team – and City Plumbing Supplies! You really are helping to make a difference to local people and their families when it matters most.”
