Youngster knits for charity
School girl Mia Elliott took up her knitting needles to show her support for St Catherine’s Hospice, a charity which is close to her heart.
Eight-year-old Mia sold all sorts of knitted items at St James’ Church in Leyland and raised £25 for St Catherine’s, a charity supported throughout her family with her sister also volunteering at the hospice.
Mia said: “I thought it would be a good idea, and I hope this helps the people in the hospice, because I know a few people who have been to St Catherine’s.”
Mia, who came to the hospice to hand over the funds on her half-term break, sold her hand-made items after a service at the church, and mum Nikki was pleased with the reaction from the people who came to see the stall.
“It’s a really nice team at the church – Mia wanted to do something different for St Catherine’s and we thought this was a really good idea,” she said.
“She had a lot of help with the stall from our friend Elsie, whose daughter was also at St Catherine’s Hospice, so a big thank you goes to everyone who helped and who bought items from the stall.”
