Why not achieve a personal goal whilst showing your support for St Catherine’s Hospice?
Taking part in a sponsored challenge is a great way to raise money, whilst working towards achieving something you’ve always dreamed of.
From crossing the finish line of a marathon to completing a cross country walk, be sure to pick something that’s achievable and you will enjoy doing – both during training and on the day.
There are plenty of sponsored events organised at a local or national level, or you can set up your own personal challenge – there’s some useful websites listed below who can help with ideas, or check out our Fundraising A-Z here.
For more information contact our fundraisers on 01772 695290 or register your event by clicking here.
There’ll be there to help every step of the way and to congratulate you when you’ve completed your challenge.
You can read some of the ways we can help below.
We secure charity places in a number of sought-after running and riding events which are available to the individual(s) who can pledge the most amount in sponsorship for the hospice.
Great North Run Half Marathon
Date: Sunday 11th September 2016
Registration fee: £57 per place
Limited spaces available. There is no minimum sponsorship – we just ask you to raise as much money as you can for your local charity. To register an initial interest please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call her on 01772 629171.
We can create a personalised official sponsor form just for you – you never know, it might just inspire that extra donation!
We have St Catherine’s Hospice T-shirts that can be used for your event so people know you are representing and supporting us.
Why not wear it during training too and continue to spread the word about St Catherine’s!
‘Your Physiotherapy’ in Preston has teamed up with St Catherine’s Hospice to offer discounts on their services to Hospice supporters before and after sponsored events.
For more information call Your Physiotherapy on 01772 627888 or visit www.yourphysiotherapy.co.uk
Don’t forget to mention St Catherine’s Hospice when you make the call.
You can post about your event or challenge on the Hospice’s Facebook timeline which you can find here.
You can also follow us on Twitter @StCatherinesPre – let us know the details and we’ll be sure to tweet and re-retweet about it to our followers.
It’s important to remember that if you’re collecting sponsorship for St Catherine’s all money must come to the Hospice. If some of the money raised by your sponsorship is to be used to pay for some of your costs or for some other use, you must make this clear to both St Catherine’s Hospice and the people sponsoring you.
We recommend that where possible you ask people to pay their sponsor money up front as it can take time to collect afterwards.
Or why not create an online account through websites like Just Giving or Virgin Money Giving? These offer a quick and easy way for people to sponsor you directly – and the funds come directly to the hospice. There’s also space to share some of the background about what has inspired the event or challenge, and any photographs you might have.
Don’t forget Gift Aid! If your sponsor is a tax payer St Catherine’s can claim gift aid from the tax office to the value of 25% of the amount they sponsor you for. That’s an extra 25p in every pound! To claim this we simply need the sponsor’s full name and home address so please be sure to include this on your sponsor form. This is free money for the Hospice and makes a real difference.
Some companies support employees who are involved in sponsored events by matching the amount of money they raise (sometimes up to a specified limit) with their own donation. Why not ask your Human Resources department to see if they want to get involved?
