Uncle John. Thank you for being one of my heroes.

Husband, Dad, Grandad, Great Granddad, Friend and Uncle. Thank you for inspiring me, for listening to me, and for helping me. Thank you for never judging me, believing in me, and supporting my choices.

Thank you for being the reason I spent 20 years as a pub landlord, hoping I could be as good as you at making people happy.

Thank you for teaching me to be slow to judge, quick to forgive, and see the other side of the story.

Thank you for being my uncle and being uncle to my children, who will always remember the hours of card games.

I hope I made you proud of me, as proud as I was of you. I miss you, will always love you, and will never forget you.

Your memory will live on in every toast and decision I make. You treated me like a son, and I loved you like a father.
