Story
After mum passed away in St Catherine’s dad volunteered as a driver and spent many happy hours with patients, families and staff. Jimmy Brash who had been so wonderful with our own family was now permanently at St Cath’s and always had time for dad when he was at the hospice. In 2020 dad fell ill and was taken to Chorley Hospital who were finding it difficult to cope as we were in the midst of Covid. Dad knew it was end of life care but the hospital couldn’t provide the necessary care to him or the family due to the immense pressures they were under. Once again this angel of a man called Jimmy stepped in and dad was moved to St Cath’s where he received the wonderful care and support mum had received 17 years earlier. Just knowing he was at St Cath’s made his last few days so very special for him and the family. We couldn’t visit in his last week due to Covid, but he died with family around him – the St Catherine’s family xx
