Story

In Loving Memory of Mark

Mark was a much-loved partner, dad, grandad, son, brother and uncle who brought laughter and warmth to the lives of everyone around him.

For 32 wonderful years he shared his life with his partner, Shelly. Together they created a life filled with love, memories and countless moments of happiness.

Mark was a proud and loving dad to his daughter Danielle, and an incredibly proud grandad to his granddaughters, Freya and Daisy. Being a grandad brought him so much joy, and he loved spending time with them and making them laugh.

Anyone who knew Mark will remember his mischievous nature and great sense of humour. He was always full of fun, quick with a laugh, and had a way of bringing smiles to the people around him.

He enjoyed the simple things in life – fishing, motorbikes, and spending time down by the coast. He was also incredibly handy around the house and rarely shied away from a job that needed doing, always happy to fix things himself.

Mark was also a much-loved son, brother and uncle, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

In July 2023, Mark was diagnosed with bowel cancer. He faced his illness with courage and determination, undergoing many different chemotherapy treatments and several operations in the hope of beating the disease.
Sadly, the cancer eventually spread to his liver and peritoneum.

The final months of his illness were incredibly difficult for him. He suffered a great deal of pain and lost a significant amount of weight, something that was very hard for us to see and something no one should ever have to go through.

We would like to say a heartfelt thank you to the wonderful staff at St Catherine’s Hospice for the kindness, care and dignity they showed Mark and our family for the two days he spent in their care. Their compassion meant so much to us at such a difficult time.

Though he may no longer be with us, the love, laughter and memories he gave will stay in the hearts of his family and friends forever.

Forever loved and always remembered.
Sleep peacefully, Mark.

If you knew Mark, we warmly invite you to share your memories, stories or messages on this page. Hearing how Mark touched the lives of others brings us comfort and helps keep his memory alive.
