Story
My mum was in Chorley Hospital with a cancer diagnosis for a few weeks. It was a stressful time for all the family until we met a wonderful Macmillan nurse called Jimmy Brash. He was the kindest, most understanding, honest and efficient person I have ever met. He explained mum’s diagnosis and treatment in plain English and arranged for her to come to St Catherine’s immediately. She was attended by another wonderful human being called Jean, who along with her team, made mum very calm and comfortable. Mum stayed at St Catherine’s for just a few days before she passed away on 10.06.2003. I will be forever grateful, not just for her friendship and being a wonderful mum, but also for the people that surrounded her in her last days, and who were so caring to all of us. They really are angels in disguise.
