How to set up a tribute page

Thank you for your interest in our tribute pages.

What is a tribute page?

Our tribute pages offer a place where you can share stories, memories, photographs and videos about a loved one who has died to celebrate their life and legacy. It is also a platform through which you can choose to collect donations for St Catherine’s Hospice in their memory.

How does it work?

You are the tribute page holder and you set it up through the St Catherine’s tribute page section on our website. First you need to register for an account on our website, or sign in if you have already created an account previously.

It is a step by step form to go through asking for some details about the loved one you are remembering; giving the opportunity to share their history and story; and a place to upload photos and video if you wish.

You can also choose to set a fundraising target if you wish, or you can leave this blank. You can also choose to ‘Disable donations’ so that the page is only for leaving messages, rather than collecting funds.

The idea is that you can then share the tribute page link with other relatives, friends and colleagues and they can add their own messages and donations to the page.

I’m interested in creating a tribute page, but we would prefer it not to be available for everyone to see – is this possible?

We understand that a tribute page can be a very personal and private thing and you may only want to share it with those close to you. You can choose to set the tribute page to ‘private’ and create a private link to share with those people you want to. In this way, only those who you invite will be able to see and contribute towards the tribute page.

What size photographs should I use on my tribute page?

Ideally the dimensions of the images you choose should be around 800 pixels by 800 pixels, with the focus of the picture in the centre of the image.

How long do tribute pages stay active?

Tribute pages can remain active for as long as you wish. If you set a target and would like to take the page down once it is reached, you simply log-in to your account and click to edit the page. You can either ‘close the page’ or choose to make it ‘draft’.  If you make it draft, you could choose to re-publish at a later date if you wish – for example, around the time of an anniversary or birthday.

Can you edit tribute pages once they are live?

You can edit your page at any time by logging into your account. This might be because you want to add a message of thanks; share a particular memory or make a comment on a particular date. It might also be because you wish to edit the donation target amount at any point.

What if someone posts something I don’t like or want to have on the tribute page?

As you are the creator of the tribute page, you can request for any content posted to it to be removed. You can email communications@stcatherines.co.uk or call 01772 629171 and one of the team will make the necessary amendments.

Is there any further contact from St Catherine’s or support provided?

When you first create your tribute page, St Catherine’s will be alerted to this and your email address shared with us. We will then make contact with you to introduce ourselves and thank you for your support.

We may also ask for some further personal details so that we can keep our records up to date and ensure we are able to communicate with you about your support of the charity going forward.

If there is anything further we can do to support you at this time – whether it be information about bereavement support or help with any further fundraising you are interested in doing – the team will also be able to help with this.

Do you have to make a donation to be able to leave a comment?

We really want this place in our website to be about the people you are remembering and so welcome comments and memories from those who may not be in a position to donate or who have donated in the past, but would like to add another comment or share another memory or update at a later date without having to make another donation.

Can I hide the amount I am donating from public view?

There is the option to donate without the amount being displayed publicly.

Can I donate anonymously?

You do not need to leave your name if you prefer not to when making a donation. Your personal details will still be needed at the basket checkout of the website in order to process your donation, but you do not need to have your name displayed on the tribute page if you prefer not to.
