St Catherine's Hospice > Supporters from The Yoga Place North ‘Pay for a Day’ at St Catherine’s

Supporters from The Yoga Place North ‘Pay for a Day’ at St Catherine’s

Pay for a dayWe would like to say a huge ‘thank you’ to Janine Noblett and all of our supporters at The Yoga Place North for raising enough money to fund our Day Therapy services and Community Nurse Specialists – who care for people in their own homes – under the charity’s Pay for a Day scheme.

They have chosen Sunday to make the donation, in tribute of Janine’s father David Edward Cox, who was cared for at the hospice and whose birthday was 11th September.

Janine, owner of The Yoga Place North in Adlington, Chorley, said: “In September 2009 my dad found out after his 65th Birthday he had cancer.

“On December 27th he passed away peacefully at St Catherine’s Hospice with his family with him.

“From being diagnosed to his death, it was a short journey. St Catherine’s made this more bearable for all involved.

“The care they gave to him during his last weeks was filled with love, tenderness and dignity, and the support they gave to his family was also heartfelt.

“Unless you have experienced what goes on at St Catherine’s you would never know that it is mainly run by volunteers and fundraising.

“We would like to thank St Catherine’s for all they did for us and continue to do for others today.”

Last year, Janine, her family, friends and customers donated £6,000 to fund the inpatient unit at the Lostock Hall hospice for David’s birthday. In total, they have raised an amazing £9,500 for the charity.

Senior fundraiser Lynne Whittaker said: “We’re so incredibly grateful to Janine and all of our supporters at The Yoga Place North for continuing to fundraise for us. The money they have pledged helps fund the specialist palliative and end-of-life care provided by St Catherine’s at the hospice and in the community, as well as offering emotional support for our patients’ loved ones.

“Through the ‘Pay for a Day’ initiative, individuals, businesses and groups are invited to donate or fundraise to cover the daily costs of all the hospice services for £11,500; or the in-patient unit alone which costs £6,000; or the Day Therapy unit and community Clinical Nurse Specialist team, which costs £3,300.

“It’s a chance to support your local hospice, whilst choosing a date which is special to you, such as a birthday or anniversary.

“Thank you again to everyone who has contributed to Janine’s fundraising efforts – it really does make a difference to local people, when it matters most.”
