Donating to Our Shops

Most of our shops rely on donations from members of the public for their stock and we always need clean, saleable items in good condition that people will want to buy.

Meet One of Our Volunteers!

ann-allenAnn Allen wanted to give her time to volunteer for St Catherine’s following her family’s personal experiences of the hospice.

She said: “I first started working at Ashton about seven years ago – it was after my nephew had died. He’d had cancer and the way St Catherine’s helped him was wonderful. The support he and had his family received was such a help – I wanted to do something to help as a way to give back.

“I really enjoy coming into work – I do a bit of everything, sorting stock and pricing things up, putting it out in the shop and manning the till. I see people coming in who I’ve not seen for years which is lovely too!

“Ashton is a real community shop – we have lots of regular customers, some who come in virtually every day. The prices are always good too – you’re guaranteed a bargain, which obviously helps.

“I’ve made lots of new friends through volunteering and I like that I’m helping to support the important work of the hospice, so that other families can benefit from it.”
