Most of our shops rely on donations from members of the public for their stock and we always need clean, saleable items in good condition that people will want to buy.

Meet One of Our Volunteers!

jennie-hollinghurstJennie Hollinghurst has been giving her time to volunteer for St Catherine’s since before the hospice even opened its doors.

She said: “I’ve been involved with St Catherine’s since the local hospice movement began back in 1980. I was a member of the Hoghton Support Group which did fundraising locally through things like jumble sales and coffee mornings, and then when they opened their first charity shop in Preston I signed up as a volunteer. We moved to different premises all over Preston, then I spent some time volunteering on the ward at the hospice, and then I joined the team at Chorley shop 12 years ago.

“I enjoy the company that volunteering brings and it feels wonderful that after all these years I’m still helping St Catherine’s. Things have changed a lot over the years, but the basic reason we’re raising money remains the same – helping people to live and die with dignity.

“It’s amazing the support we receive from the community and I’m delighted to still be part of it – we’re always looking for new people to join in and love welcoming new faces to the team!”
