Donating to Our Shops

Most of our shops rely on donations from members of the public for their stock and we always need clean, saleable items in good condition that people will want to buy.

Meet One of Our Volunteers!

DSC_0796Lisa Thompson, from Preston, has been volunteering at our Fulwood Charity Shop since it first opened – and says it’s been a great way to give something back to a worthy cause.

She says: “Both of my parents were diagnosed with cancer and my mum went to day therapy there and loved every minute of it. She was my best friend. We went on holidays together and for a while I cared for her full-time.

“For this reason, St Catherine’s Hospice is a big part of my life. A lot of people think negatively of hospices, but it isn’t until you see St Catherine’s that you realise it is a lovely place with happy, smiling staff and patients. After the loss of both my parents I was lost and volunteering gave me something to focus on.

“I have never worked in a shop before so working at the Fulwood Charity Shop has helped me gain valuable and practical life skills. I love it! I get to meet all sorts of people. What I’m doing is helping other people who are going through what I’ve been through. It’s my way of giving something back.”
