Understanding Bereavement

This bereavement session is both informative and interactive.  Delegates will explore their own feelings about loss and bereavement.  They will learn how bereavement affects people in different ways and that the grieving process is individual.   The learning objectives will be met by the use of videos, group discussion and reflection.

We will also look at our own coping strategies for dealing with bereaved clients and learn about the ways in which we can help with advice and support for the people in our care.  We will use the Kubler Ross model of grief to understand the grieving process and how people can be anywhere in the cycle at any one time.

Learning Objectives:

  • To understand what ‘bereavement’ is;
  • To understand what ‘grief’ is;
  • To be able to recognise the ‘cycle of grief’ (using Kubler Ross model of grief);
  • To identify the difference between ‘normal’ and ‘abnormal’ grief;
  • To explore ways in which we can provide advice and support to people who are bereaved.

Cost: £65 per person
