St Catherine’s Hospice relies on the hard work and support of its team of more than 700 dedicated volunteers.

They are at the heart of the Hospice and play an essential role in enabling us to provide the services we do.

We’re currently promoting our #GiveTime campaign – asking teenagers and young adults to consider joining our fantastic volunteering team here at the hospice, in our brilliant shops and at our popular café, The Mill.

When you #GiveTime for St Catherine’s, not only are you supporting a local cause; you’re:
– Boosting your CV and college/ uni applications, helping you to stand out from the crowd
– Developing your skills and self-confidence
– Having fun and meeting new people

Hours are flexible, with some of our volunteers lending a hand from just two hours a week, so it’s easy to fit around studies, friends, work and hobbies.

Volunteering is for people of all ages, and each brings their own skills and expertise to a role, as well as their incredibly valuable time.

It’s important to stress that people can help St Catherine’s in all kinds of different ways, with a varying degree of commitment. Even just a little time can make a huge difference to the hospice and the people we care for.

You could bring your time and skills to a role each week at the hospice – perhaps working in the admin or trading offices, on reception or on the ward.

You could also work out at one of our shops, representing St Catherine’s in the community. In fact, nearly half of our volunteers work for our trading team in our 16 shops across Preston, Chorley and South Ribble, including our gift shops in the hospice reception and at The Mill cafe.

But you could lend a hand on a more ad-hoc basis – perhaps co-ordinating the car park at one of our big events, or manning a stall at one of our fundraisers.

We can promise a very rewarding role within a much-loved local charity which makes a real difference to the lives of local people. Not only that, it’s also a very sociable activity which also offers valuable work experience for those beginning a new education or career path.
