Placements

St Catherine's Hospice is a leader in End of Life and Palliative Care and we support the development of health sector professionals through our wide ranging placement opportunities.

We take trainee nurses, doctors, complementary therapists and social workers on placement all year round as well as professionals already working in the health sector who need to learn about specialist palliative and end of life care. Placements can last from half a day right up to three months or more and it's an ideal way to gain a good insight into what hospice care is really about.

We are currently working with the University of Manchester Medical School by taking their final year students on day placements to support their learning of palliative and end of life care. The placement focuses on helping them to develop their communication skills, an understanding of the medications commonly used in palliative and end of life care and how to control symptoms such as pain. All this is done through case studies and by spending practical time with our doctors, nurses and patients.

If you are interested in a placement at St Catherine's Hospice please fill out the form below.

Unfortunately, we can not guarantee that everyone who registers will get a placement with us.
Applicants must be over 18 years old and be able to demonstrate how a better understanding of hospice care and services will improve your working practice.
