Thank you for giving your time and efforts to organise an event in aid of St Catherine’s Hospice – we are truly grateful to all those who go to great lengths on the charity’s behalf. We want you to enjoy your fundraising experience and get a lot out of it personally too. That’s why our fundraising team is here to help! We hope you find the information on this page useful and if you have any queries or have an idea but aren’t really sure where to start, don’t hesitate to contact them: firstname.lastname@example.org / 01772 324540.
If your event is open to the public and you are trying to sell tickets, we can list your event it on our Upcoming Events section. We aren’t able to process transactions for selling tickets for third party events, but can provide all the information people need – along with quick and easy links straight to the relevant site – to make it as easy as possible for people.
To help ensure the success of your event or fundraiser, as many people as possible need to know about it! We can help with poster design for you to display in relevant locations. The more notice you can give us, the better.
If you would prefer to design your own posters we can provide you with copies of the St Catherine’s logo to use on them. You must also show our charity number, which we can give you, on all literature.
We can also display your posters on our rotating screen in hospice reception, as well as on the screen in the hospice shops nearest to where the event is taking place.
We have St Catherine’s Hospice T-shirts that can be used for your event so people know you are representing and supporting us.
Why not wear it after the event too, and continue to spread the word about St Catherine’s?
We have our eye-catching yellow collection buckets available to borrow for us at your event, and can even custom design labels for them which are unique to your special occasion.
We ask people, when possible, to pick these up from the Hospice in Lostock Hall and to give us at least 24 hours notice to prepare.
‘Your Physiotherapy’ in Preston has teamed up with St Catherine’s Hospice to offer discounts on their services to Hospice supporters before and after sponsored events.

You can post about your event or challenge on the Hospice’s Facebook timeline which you can find here.
You can also follow us on Twitter @StCatherinesPre – let us know the details and we’ll be sure to tweet and re-retweet about it to our followers.
Are there any safety issues you need to consider when planning your event? Do you need any specialist safety equipment? Contact the team for any health and safety advice.
It’s important to remember that if you’re collecting sponsorship for St Catherine’s all money must come to the Hospice. If some of the money raised by your sponsorship is to be used to pay for some of your costs or for some other use, you must make this clear to both St Catherine’s Hospice and the people sponsoring you.
We recommend that where possible you ask people to pay their sponsor money up front as it can take time to collect afterwards. Or why not create an online account through websites like Just Giving or Virgin Money Giving? These offer a quick and easy way for people to sponsor you directly – and the funds come directly to the hospice. There’s also space to share some of the background about what has inspired the event or challenge, and any photographs you might have.
Don’t forget Gift Aid! If your sponsor is a tax payer St Catherine’s can claim gift aid from the tax office to the value of 25% of the amount they sponsor you for. That’s an extra 25p in every pound! To claim this we simply need the sponsor’s full name and home address so please be sure to include this on your sponsor form. This is free money for the Hospice and makes a real difference.
Some companies support employees who are involved in charitable work by matching the amount of money they raise (sometimes up to a specified limit) with their own donation. Why not ask your Human Resources department to see if they want to get involved?
